Who is Jurgen Tanuyama, really?
November 2, 3069 (The Starling Report)
If you're unfortunate enough to be living in the totalitarian nightmare that Arc-Royal has become, you know the name Jurgen Tanuyama. Even if not, you may have seen some of the posters going up across the Commonwealth advertising the patriotic butchers who call themselves the "Ass-ociation of Tharkad Martyrs." You've seen Tanuyama's signature on these things... but then that's all you've seen, right? The Estates General might not make its sessions public, but most of the fraudulent delegates are still known figures, even those that aren't publicity hounds. Not this guy. Not a single public appearance. Delegate Timkovichi indeed - I asked around, and not one native of that backwater can attest having heard of this guy before Mulcahy set up shop on Arc-Royal. Lest you think that this is just another case of a body being called in to replace a corpse on Tharkad, the delegate from Timkovichi, one Angela Pouris, wasn't on Tharkad when the bang went off. Of course, she's not been seen since then.
So who is this guy? The answer isn't all that clear. A reliable source traced the name back to Praditz: that's right, the guy was an FRR native, and fled from the clan threat to the FedCom in 3049. According to official records, he got a job with the Lyran Alliance after Kathy dissolved the FedCom in '57, as "Assistant Agricultural Minister" on Timehri. Not a single document attests his actually doing the job, but he must have been working hard, right?
So I ask you, who is the leader of the Martyrs? Or maybe even more frightening: is the leader of the Tharkad Martyrs? Or did someone just borrow a dead refugee's name? Do they really expect us to believe that this group of "patriots" could be lead by someone who wasn't a born Lyran citizen? If you aren't asking these questions, you need to be. Did whoever is really behind these Martyrs create their namesake? I can't say for sure now, but rest not-too-assuredly that we'll be digging up every forgotten archive to find out.
